shoulder bursitis
« on: December 21, 2014, 11:07:45 AM »
Hello Steve

A friend of mine has been diagnosed with bursitits in his shoulder. He has had three quarterzone injections - 2 under guided ultrasound. He is still in pain and has been advised by a physiotherapist that they are unable to help him. He was saying that the quarterzone injections can be effective for approximately 1 week but ? a spur is present and the pain resumes. Is SLM massage an avenue for him and if so who would be the best to refer him to on the Central Coast.  It would be great to avoid surgery.  Thanks for your help. kind regards Peter.

Hi Peter, definitely. The bursa gets inflamed because the should is tracking in an unbalanced way and the problem can usually be found in the muscles in the arm and back that feed and support the shoulder. I would refer him and he is likely to get rid of the pain in a few sessions (sometimes one).

Regards
Steve
